Flavonoids are a diverse group of phytonutrients found in almost all fruits and vegetables, playing an essential role in regulating the gut microbiome. The human gut microbiome metabolizes these flavonoids, generating metabolites with beneficial effects such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Understanding how these flavonoids are metabolized can offer insights into improving health outcomes related to gut microbiota.

Recent studies have identified several key enzymes responsible for flavonoid metabolism within the human gut. This project aims to systematically catalog and predict potential flavonoid-modifying enzymes present in the gut microbiome, leveraging bioinformatics techniques to analyze gut genome data.
