Bacteria have exceptional ability to swiftly evolve to enhance their pathogenicity. Identification of virulent proteins in de-novo sequenced bacterial genome will provide an useful estimate of its pathogenic abilities. However mechanisms underlying pathogenesis are very complex, diverse and involve several processes like adherence, invasion, virulence, antibiotic resistance etc.
Currently available tools however have limited accuracy and can only predict if protein might be pathogenic or not without providing any functional annotation.
Here we have developed MP4 tool which uses SVM-based approach to not only predict pathogenic proteins from genomic or metagenomic datasets but also further sub-categories them according totheir function.
