Metagenome of Yamuna River
This study assessed the microbial community structure and functional diversity of the Yamuna River water from the New Delhi region. The community structure during pre-monsoon (June) was significantly different from post-monsoon (November). This metagenomic study provided the first insights into the bacterial microbiome composition of this polluted river and revealed seasonal variations, the presence of antibiotic resistance genes, and insights into the metabolic potential of a polluted river microbiome.
