We performed a metagenomic and metabolome-based study on stool samples of a cohort of colorectal cancer patients in India, comparing them with healthy individuals. Our analysis reveals a possible link between the presence of the flavonoid-degrading gut bacterium, Flavonifractor plautii, and colorectal cancer patients in India. We identified cohort-specific biomarkers that can potentially be used in the non-invasive diagnosis of CRC. The study is published in msystems journal in 2019.
